Henan Kino Cranes Co., Ltd. will attend GIFA Indonesia and METEC Indonesia 2026 at JIExpo Kemayoran in Jakarta from 9 to 12 September 2026. The company will be located at Booth 7407.

The joint event brings together the foundry, metallurgy and steel production sectors. For Kinocranes, it provides a direct setting for technical discussions with steel producers, foundries, engineering contractors and plant operators whose lifting equipment must work under high temperature, high load and continuous-duty conditions.

Lifting Equipment for the Steel Production Process

Material handling in a steel plant is not a single lifting task. It extends from scrap reception and charging to melting, casting, rolling, storage and dispatch. Each stage imposes different requirements on crane structure, lifting attachments, control accuracy, duty classification and safety systems.

Kinocranes develops heavy-duty and extra-heavy-duty crane systems for these operating conditions. The equipment portfolio for the metals industry includes the following solutions:

Ladle Handling Overhead Cranes

Ladle handling cranes are used in the melt shop and casting area to transport and position ladles containing molten metal. These cranes require a stable load path, controlled movement, dependable braking and protection of critical components from heat. Kinocranes supplies two-girder and four-girder ladle handling crane configurations, engineered according to the plant layout and operating requirements.

Scrap Handling and Grab Cranes

Scrap handling begins before the melting process. Gantry cranes and overhead grab cranes can be configured for the loading, unloading and transfer of loose scrap, baled metal and other raw materials. Hydraulic grabs or electromagnetic attachments can be selected according to the material and handling cycle. For outdoor scrap yards, the crane arrangement must also account for weather exposure, travel distance and the interface with trucks or transfer equipment.

Electromagnetic Cranes for Steel Products

Electromagnetic overhead cranes are used to lift and transfer ferrous materials such as plates, pipes, sections, bars, billets and coils. Rotating trolley magnet cranes provide additional flexibility where the load must be positioned in different orientations. The lifting attachment, magnet capacity and control method are selected according to the dimensions, surface condition and temperature of the steel products.

Heavy-Duty AGV Transfer Carts

Overhead lifting is not suitable for every internal transport route. Heavy-duty AGV transfer carts provide a ground-level solution for moving slabs, billets, ladles, coils and other heavy loads between production areas. Their use can reduce dependence on fixed tracks and support the material flow between the melt shop, casting line, rolling mill and storage area. The vehicle configuration and control arrangement should be matched to the route, load distribution, floor condition and required operating cycle.

Rubber-Tyred Gantry Cranes

Rubber-tyred gantry cranes are appropriate where lifting and travel flexibility are required without a fully fixed rail system. They can be applied in steel yards, casting facilities, warehouses and other outdoor or semi-outdoor material handling areas. Their engineering requires coordinated consideration of wheel loads, ground conditions, steering, power supply, span and the dimensions of the handling zone.

Engineering Priorities in Metallurgical Environments

Steelmaking and foundry operations place greater demands on crane design than general workshop handling. Near furnaces and molten-metal operations, ambient temperatures can exceed 200°C. Production loads may range from auxiliary handling duties to primary equipment exceeding 500 tonnes. In addition, many plants operate continuously, leaving limited time for unplanned maintenance.

For these reasons, a steel mill crane should be evaluated as part of the production system rather than as an isolated piece of equipment. Key design considerations include:

  • Structural stability for heavy and repetitive lifting cycles.
  • Heat-resistant motors, electrical components and cable management.
  • Redundant braking and emergency holding functions for critical lifting operations.
  • Overload protection, emergency stop systems and collision avoidance.
  • Smooth acceleration, accurate positioning and controlled load movement.
  • PLC-based control, remote monitoring and diagnostic functions where required.
  • Compatibility with plant layouts, specialized attachments and future automation upgrades.

Kinocranes also provides engineering support for site measurement, requirement definition, manufacturing coordination, quality inspection, installation and after-sales service. The final configuration is determined by the process, load, span, lifting height, travel path, working class and environmental conditions of the customer's facility.

A Technical Meeting Point in Jakarta

Visitors to Booth 7407 can discuss specific lifting requirements with the Kinocranes team, including:

  • Ladle transport and hot-metal handling.
  • Scrap yard loading and material charging.
  • Billet, slab, plate and coil handling.
  • Internal transport using heavy-duty AGV transfer carts.
  • Flexible yard and warehouse lifting using rubber-tyred gantry cranes.
  • Crane replacement, capacity upgrades and automation-ready configurations.

Kinocranes has supplied custom overhead, gantry, jib and electric hoist solutions for industrial applications in more than 120 countries. Its products are designed to meet international requirements including FEM, CE, ISO 9001 and EAC, subject to the specifications of each project.
